None of my minis are even close to that , so it would have to be a very very much modified mini to even go under 10 seconds .....It would either have to have extensive modifications , an engine transplant or setup for drag racing , which makes most unsuitable for road use anyway ....... dream on

I know I shouldn't, and you definitely didn't mean to offend, but I take offence to that... my MK2 isn't extensively modified in the engine department, I built it myself and there is nothing particularly out of the ordinary in it. It's a very streetable car

In fact, this very morning I was testing the air fuel ratio, and confirmed that it is seriously lean at wide open throttle.

Coupled with that is that I use bridgestone SF226 tyres, which are definitely not known for their grip....

so here - I datalogged the RPM through my ignition, calculated the speed given the gear ratios and charted it. I launched at about 3700rpm which was probably a bit much...

edit: the dips in the chart are because it was based on RPM, not wheel speed, so when I changed gear the RPM dropped. It was on a slight uphill also

edit: bum - Mick gave me the wrong gear ratios, makes it a shade over 11.3 seconds, but I stand by what I said, 10 seconds isn't that hard

0-60mph taken from modern motor tests

850: 21sec may 1961
997 Cooper: 16sec jan 1963
deluxe: 21.1sec may 1965
AJB44B monte carlo mini: 8.2sec may 1965
1275 cooper S: 11.2sec jan 1966
1100cc K: 18.6sec jun 1969
1100 clubman: 18sec oct 1971
1275 GT: 12.3sec oct 1971

it wouldnt take much to get a 1275 car under 10 seconds.
my mini is faster than my colt ralliart and stuweys polo gti which are both 8 seconds 0-100kph according to wheels jan 2008

Given this is ausmini.com and everybody who has posted is from Australia, I think we can pretty safely assume it's kph.

This just confuses the situation once again....

I would have expected it to be 0-60kph also as the original post stated.

Surely a WRX can get to 60kph faster then 4.9sec's?

roundnose speedo in mph, all the mini tests in mph, 0-60 = mph

who the hell times 0-37.5mph? you'd have to be pretty sad to quote 0-60kph runs.

Fiji was also referring to Top Gear, who quote 0-60mph times.
This roughly equates to 0-100kph which is a standard performance indicator.

The modded WRX would do 0-100kph in under 5 seconds.
0-60kph figures are not readily available for most cars, and only really give you an indication of how good the driver can launch the car rather than the performance of the car itself.

you're just going to have to accept that he was confused when he made that post - this thread is about 0-60 mph, or 0-100kph

move on
