After watching Skender's GT go through some starter troubles at the Geelong Dyno day, I marched out to find that mine wouldn't start on the button either  I thought Sken must have been pulling my leg!

I got a jump and took the car home and checked and excluded the battery or solenoid. So I pulled down the starter and found that the stator winding (made out of coiled 1/4" copper strap) had a fracture and had snapped. A little more high tin content soldering required, but should be fixed tomorrow...

Mick, did it fracture at a solder joint (dry joint) or the copper it self?

I got into my Morris this morning and when I turned the key... you guessed it, the Gemini starter worked beautifully as usual.

I put a new carpet set in (thanks Trimm), and put new vinyl on the lower dash rail. Yet to do the top. Oh, and I put new vinyl wheel arch trims over the back wheel arches. The interior is looking smick now, just a few little jobs to finish off.

It fractured between the starter cable terminal and the 1st stator coil.
