As above, my HIF44 doesn't quite fit on the minispares inlet - the fuel bowl is just hitting the firewall where the hole for the speedo etc is, probably only needs 1/4" more clearance.. is this normal? Do I just get the BFH out onto the firewall? Should I be running a thinner spacer?

I run a 1/4" spacer on mine and it clears. It did not fit with the original thick black spacer.

There was one version that was simply the wrong angle and other than the BFH there is not much you can do.

I have used a few of these, with the best all round mini carb (ducks for cover) the HIF44. I fit them with no spacer and while it all fits, it is necessary to fit the carb to the manifold and then put the manifold on the head.

<EDIT> Putting one on anthing other than a 1275 could reduce any clearance that you might otherwise have. The 1275 block is 3/8" (10mm) taller than all others.

It's on a 1275, with 1/2" spacer... where does one find a 1/4" spacer?

I got my spacer from www.minispares.com. My manifold is the older style that is flat across the top of the heater pipe also on a 1275. I cut my studs down to the minimum length and can just get the carb on with manifold fitted.

i've got that same manifold... does anyone actually bother hooking up the water to the heating pipes and run the coolant through this manifold?

trying to sort some tuning issues and wondering if the heated manifold would help or if it's just one of those pommy things.

If your HIF44 will not fit on your car you should sell it to me and buy something that will fit. I am looking for 1.

I was told today by someone that it can make a big difference removing flat spots.... ? I've got mine hooked up fwiw.

As Kevin suggests mill the spacer thinner...which is what I did and round filed the Mini Spares intake to allow the throttle quadrant to rotate without fear of interference.

Select a gear, bring up the revs and release the clutch...off you go!

It can help the tinest bit with a feeling a smoothness in accelerating. It will help with economy.

I don't bother with them.

It makes a big difference to carb icing on a long run in winter. It gets quite exciting when your throttle freezes wide open and you run up behind a slower vehicle.
