My mini runs a 9FXEY stamped 1275 with a 23d4 dissie, unfortunately the base of the dissie has a crack in it, still runs ok but probably wont last long. It appears that finding a replacement 23D4 will be difficult.

Any recommendations for a replacement electronic type or other?

The cam spec of the motor is not known.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

To retain a points system get one from these guys

http://www.performanceignition.com.au/home

Uses easy to obtain and highly reliable Bosch parts.

These can also be supplied in an electronic version.

on Dad's 23D4, the base had cracked around the flange from being clamped too tight, I built it up with metal epoxy stick stuff and it's been good for 2-3 years

From this link "A new Distributor is no longer available, but we offer to rebuild your own Distributor."

Not a lot of use if his housing is buggered

There are a lot of places here in Oz who can recondition one, so why go to the UK??? but as Panthersteve points out ^^ no use if the body is cracked.

depends on the crack... like I said, some metal epoxy stuff, or weld it up. It's worth saving

It's only alloy, about 5 mins work for someone to TIG weld it.
They crack because they are hollow underneath the clamp ring.

If you wanted another dizzy I'd get a 43D4 from a later Oz Mini, and put a Britparts or Pertronix electronic kit in it.
I have one running great in my 1412 stroker, same advance curve and all.
No more *(*^&&()-0 points..... :evil:

They crack at the base because people don`t realise that they need to loosen at least one of the base clamp retaining bolts before they play with the pinch bolt

The clamp will pinch into the body of the dizzy & wreck the thing

so,,, everyone listen up,,,, """FIRST you need to LOOSEN at least one of the 2x clamp retaining bolts,,, then release the pinch bolt to sort your timing,,, then re-tighten the pinch bolt (only needs to be NIPPED UP ---> & THEN tighten the clamps retaining bolt

it`s not difficult to do it correctly & saves wrecking all those "hard-to-find" distributors
