you don`t take the engine mount bracket out

just undo the 2 "lower bolts" off the rad bracket --> the one that bolts in-between the rad cowl & the engine mount bracket

am i going to have to take a video of the job for everyone to see how easy it really is???

whack it up on you-pube :-)

    I'll volunteer to come over and record it and we can time you   :D :D :D hehe,

Interesting read, and each to their own. I've never had any problem with the cut shroud, been doing them that way for over 15 years, never a problem. Dunno about them being weak?

Can have the radiator out in a similar time suggested, slaken off the fan belt, 2 shroud screws, 2 nuts/bolts on the thermo housing, bottom hose off the pump and top hose off the thermo housing or the radiator and it lifts out! Easy peasy. No mucking about with a jack, or the engine mount bolts, no crawling around on the ground.

But as I said, each to their own.

rad on a clubby should come straight out, plenty of room. turn the thing 45 degrees and work it upward over the fan.

on a roundy i remove the top shroud, unbolt the bottom one from the rad, and then slide the rad up and out.

pretty straight forward.

looking forward to Matts YouPube and hope it involves thongs and a BFH.

well im guessing ur only taking the bottom shroud off not the top while your at it to get it out of the way.. It has been 12 months since I've had a A series engine to work on (remember I do have the datty conversion..) and with the memory like mine, I wouldn't remember how many bolts there was..

Yep, 2 shroud screws are the 2 front lower ones. Top shroud and what is left of the bottom shroud (above the bottom outlet) stays on the radiator and all comes out with the radiator.

Even with the cut bottom shroud I've never had any problems with this mod, no rattles, nothing, in over 15 years and many km's in many different cars.

And as I said earlier, each to their own.

I must apologize,,, i`m sorry,,, i typed "3" upper rad bracket nuts (thermostat hsg) when i meant to type 2... sorry

& Lockie,,, if you want to talk about painful back ache--> I was born with Spina Bifida,,, look it up if you don`t know what it is

& no i havn`t bothered to even attempt to take the screws out of the rad cowl before removing any mini rad,,, never ever needed to... besides that i`ve watched & heard of too many people attempting such a silly method

& yes,,, i agree with justminis,,, each to their own,,,, absolutely for sure

anyone can do anything , anyway they want,

who am i & why should i bother trying to help

Isn't human nature wonderful - My way is better than your way - then there is Matts way - Sh!t the guy cut his teeth on an AF ring spanner and sucked grease from Mini nipples instead of mothers milk - what the rest of us (a few notable exceptions exclude) know about Minis collectively wouldn't fit under his little finger nail - yet people want to dispute is knowledge and experience - I'll take Matts advice any day without question

...end rant
