This is the worse - three other surfaces have marks but the 'skin' is not broken - one surface has a mark and a small pit

Use or not to use?

If you were caught out in the desert with a broken CV, that one would be gold......

However since I think your at home, why not do yourself a favour and chuck that one in the bin.......

I haven't checked the other side - but do you normally replace both as a pair or only if damaged?

Complete CV joints either outright or exchange are not very expensive these days, although I have a strong preferance for new joints. Some of the re-built ones are not much better than the ones you take out.

Generally, I would only replace the one side if that is knackered, although, if I'm doing a ground up resto, then I do everything so it all starts off on the same foot. Depends too on how much $$$$ you wish to invest in your project and how much use it will see.
