When is it not working.
I have changed the thermostat (74), Flushed the System (including the Heater), Ensured no Airpockets in the head.
Still heats to half realy quickly and goes to High and stays thier...
Other than that could it be the bottom radiator hose contracting
I have also done the Bushies Compretion test all fine thier also

How worn is the pump likely to be? I have heard of some pumps cavitating when worn. When was the last time you spun it - was the bearing OK? (usually do this off the car however)

The hi-flow pumps are about $70 at Karcraft I think.

Other than that, even though you flushed the rad, is it time to consider pulling it out for a service?

whats your rad like? how old is it?

Might need a flush out of the car, or top and bottom tanks off for a core clean.

My clubby rad looks like it was replaced recently....nice and new....but I am taking it to a rad place for a pressure flush. :P

I had similar overheating problems in my deluxe, checked everything, flushed system out a lot, cores all looked clean but nothing worked.

In the end I took it to my local radiator works and he took the tanks off for a core clean.
About 40% of the cores were completely blocked, you just couldn't tell with the tank on!

Recored rad & now it's sweet as.

Cheers & good luck

Matt

A lot of my overheating issues were due to the temp guage being out .

New radiator, hoses and water pump before I worked that out.

You did run plain water in it for quite a while, the rad core might be coated in crud...
What pump is it? I've seen them with cast iron impellers (good), plastic impellers (??), & bent tin impellers (crap)..!

Mate, no Idea what the Pump Looks Like.....Can't even say I even had a look at it what we rebuilt the motor.. :?
Intentiion tomorrow..Fine someone to do over one of my spares and put it in...Then redo Morris's old one and put it into Marcia
If all goes well I will not touch it..But if it fails it's the pump newbie
Sue's has said the Fan belt is slipping..but I have driven Morris in the last couple of weeks and have not notice to much skwealling
