Before I bought a 40mm Dellorto for my 1100 I was considering the idea of bike carbs, but did read some where that there may be some torque losses down low?

the set that craig is running now are the short manifold ones and we took the 45 weber off and these things left it for dead.
Some of the older bike carbs were same design as a SU but these have a accelerator jet that works off air flow ,so as soon as the throttle is opened they pour a metered amount of fuel in and by-passes the fuel flow from the needle/jet until the air flow stabalizes and the needle takes over.
Only thing is the fuel pressure is critical but running the std bike fuel pump solves that problem. They certainly do not suffer from fuel surge because if you leaned a mini as far as a bike it would be on it's lid.
Down side is they are bloody noisy, but being deaf solves that
