The long manifold set of bike carbs is finished so when Craig [test pilot] brings his car up next we will see how much difference these make.
Time to put Mr Vizards theory to the test.I wonder if he allowed for japanese technology when he wrote that bit in his book :)

Will be great to see what the results are.
Before I bought a 40mm Dellorto for my 1100 I was considering the idea of bike carbs, but did read some where that there may be some torque losses down low?
Hope the longer manifolds might just do the trick!

the set that craig is running now are the short manifold ones and we took the 45 weber off and these things left it for dead.
Some of the older bike carbs were same design as a SU but these have a accelerator jet that works off air flow ,so as soon as the throttle is opened they pour a metered amount of fuel in and by-passes the fuel flow from the needle/jet until the air flow stabalizes and the needle takes over.

Only thing is the fuel pressure is critical but running the std bike fuel pump solves that problem. They certainly do not suffer from fuel surge because if you leaned a mini as far as a bike it would be on it's lid.

Down side is they are bloody noisy, but being deaf solves that :)

yeah they do (sometimes) suffer a little from fuel surge on very hard tight fast corners when fitted to cars with super sticky slicks & well set-up handling package (maybe not so much on a road mini tho) ,,, When the bikes lean over during cornering, the fuel is centrifuged into the bottom of the float bowls so very little surge occurs,,, however in an "upright" position (as in fitted to a car without the ability to lean through corners), they can suffer a little fuel surge

i know this from experience & have found a mob on the net who have produced "anti-surge" float bowls (sorry but i`ve lost the link)

they`re great carbs otherwise & are very very tunable. i love them :-)
