Well I looked on the Wade, Camtech, & Waggott sites (the latter had no cam numbers at all) and no joy. 402 doesn't ring a bell to me.
I would go get it reground to a grind that works- then you know wtf it is.

Oh well. thats a bit of an uninteresting end to that mystery.

You could set your Cam up in a couple of "V" Blocks, stick a Cam Wheel on one end, and use a dial gauge to tell us all when the valves open, close, and what lift they have at the lobe. Come on, this is a mystery that you can solve for us!!

or not.....

Cheers,

Dicko

Sorry here mate, you have to use cam followers, the geometry will be way way out......I check them in an engine block

Well, i have no idea how to measure it, but i would be more than happy to let anyone have a crack at figuring it out if they were keen. 8)

well i found a little container with random screws and other stuff, and guess what else i found.... Something that helps clear the engine size up a little.
Image

and while you're here, i have these little "bad boys" in amongst the parts.
Image
it seems to have most of the parts. Any ideas on what else would be needed if i was to put these guys on.

The previous owner fitted a brake booster, presumably in anticipation of fitting these disks, but having read a few threads on here the consensus seems to be that it is not really necessary.
Image

If that is the case i would rather remove it and gain the engine bay space back. As I am not too worried about having a firmer brake pedal. My old 72 clubman had un-boosted drums all round and that was fine.

Is there a big difference between un-assisted disks front, drums back and just un-assisted drums all round ???
And if i was to remove it, would i just need to disconnect the brake lines and reconnect them like this??
Image

Thanks

Tim :D

Measure the diameter and thickness of those rotors. Pic is a bit dark but they look like 7" Cooper ones to me, not 7.5" Cooper S.
If so and you are fitting them, I WOULD keep the booster, and fit Greenstuff pads or better.

Well you were right ( again   )
They are 7" , and 4.5mm thick

So are they a worthy upgrade ???? :?

People including Vizard bag out 7" discs, but like any discs they have 1 major advantage over 2LS drums on a road car- they self adjust. 8)
I ran a set for years on my `76 Clubby hydro Minimatic Cooper 998 disc bitsa, they stopped fine with a PBR servo and a set of HF metal king pads. :P

Cooper won their class a couple of years running at Bathurst, so they are not THAT bad. But Cooper S ones are better and more durable.
If ya got em, run em I say.

[edit] post a pic of the pads. If they are the 997 `postage stamps', the calipers can be milled out (by me or others) to take the bigger 998 pads.

OK those are the good later (998) ones.
But fit some decent pads- EBC Greenstuffs, Mintex M1144, etc.
998 pads get hot quicker than S pads do.

Rotors are only 1/4" thick (6.35mm) when new, toss them if under 6mm. Karcraft has new ones available for a bit over $100 each.
A while back, they were around $150+....

The modern brake pads are vastly superior to anything that was available when all the anti 7" stuff started.
I would be happy with 7" disc brakes on a Mini with modern performance pads.
I would only run a booster if I felt the pedal pressure was too high.

You are correct. They are Amongst other necessary parts i do not have.

I figure once i got all that stuff plus new rotors i would be close to the price of a 7.5" setup anyway. So i might keep the drums for now and see what happens.

I might end up giving the 7" brakes a go, just cos they are so unloved.... I do like going for the underdog...
