Maybe RHP/NSK don't care, they're not a volume item now.

I've still got 1 left....

I think a big part of the problem is the cheap (and nasty) complete racks that are flooding the market. Nobody wants to overhaul anymore.

Painting (primer) and installing the side windows:

Image

I tinted the windows last night, which worked okay. A couple of small hickies but they look fine from the outside. Refitting the trim is a b!tch, nasty little rivets and self tappers mainly.

The Estate is going to be yellow again, but I painted the trim separately. I'll fill the inevitable gap with seam sealer as soon as I work out a way of 'piping' it into the gap. I have to paint the car in stages as my garage isn't big enough to do it in one but I'm quite happy with the results so far.

Some pics of the trailing arm refurbishment...

[img][/img]

RH arm removed(along with 30++years of soil laden grease!)

[img][/img]

LH still in car - nowhere near as bad as the RH one.

[img][/img]

RH out and on the floor

[img][/img]

LH out on the floor

[img][/img]

RH blasted with pressure cleaner and repainted in satin brake black - noice!

[img][/img]

The bumfight that is the wiring - might just put it all back and splice...grrr

[img][/img]

While I was waiting for paint to dry, hung a pegboard and sorted the tools out...wheee!!

More to come

Today I:

Fixed things that I fixed previously.

After putting in a new Smiths tachometer, I found out a couple days later that my dash lights and tailights turned off when the headlights were turned on. Solution: put the wires on the back of the light switch, (where I tapped in for the dash light for the tacho), in the correct position!

Car was running rough at idle, it was still idling around right revs, but when I checked the AFR, (I'm running Megasquirt with a wideband O2 sensor), it was showing readings between 16-19:1 at idle. Yet the ignition was having no major problems igniting it. Solution: put back the MAP sensor tube to the manifold!

Moral: Check your work, then re-check it.

Put the body onto its new trolley and then assembled all the parts and body kit in preparation for the paint shop.

(Yesterday) Rummaged around under the house and found a nice piece of wood I can rip up and make two of the wooden blocks to stick under the front subframe to use as jack point. If I end up with two finished blocks I'll have one to sell

Did a bit of degreasing of the new engine, most grime looks to have been caused by pot joint grease and not actual oil. My left wrist is in a splint at the moment so I don't have alot of movement which means I can't get to work re-painting and fitting it all back in Hetty.. Soon though.

Sorry to hear that, why do people still not understand that mobile phones are dangerous when mixed with driving.

^^^ What a PITA. Hope it's not too bad. Is cellphone use in Aus not illegal? They made it illegal here about 9 months ago.

It is in Victoria, not sure about the other states. I personally believe it is hard to police since when we go home and switch on the TV, all we see is Americans talking away on their cells in their cars whilst driving ! :x End of rant. 8)
