Fitted the crankshaft into the block. And I put the thrust bearings in the correct way around. :)

Washed the months and months of built up dust off Hetty. Hope to start cleaning up the engine this weekend.

Spent about half the day cleaning all the oil and grease from the engine, then gave it a lick of paint.

Attempted to get 4myego's Mk2 Cooper S running properly. The old twin HS4s seem to have a serious problem- so in a day or so it's getting Lockie's Dellorto DHLA45 and ported Redline 3005 manifold fitted. A proper carburettor, Made in Italia. :mrgreen:

{edit}
Fitted it today, then turned the key and it roared into life.
I'd guessed at the idle screw setting, but it sat there purring like a kitten at 800rpm.
Jetting is same as mine at present, we'll play with jets next. :wink:

Today I replaced the rear spacer drums back to original standard new ones so as to get the 6" Mambas back under the flares. Painted the drums silver so you can now see the wheels more clearly. 8)

Tomorrow I will wire up the twin relays for the H4 headlights and driving lights.

pulled apart 1098 motor to replace lots of gaskets and seals.. All looking good so far. Not taking any painkillers because I didn't want my brain all fuzzy, so I now have a very sore wrist. Taken drugs now so in about 30 mins I'll probably forget that I own a Mini or two. :)

More body work. Stripped paint from most the front of the car, then started on touching up the rear doors. The lower 2 inches of one door need replaced, so that will be a test of my fabrication skills...

Also bought a new pair of seats from a 2005 Fiesta for NZ$80. Almost too tall for the Mini but will work.
