Got a urgent phone call from my best mate today, one of his work mates own a clubbie and on the way home they tried to be silly and race each other at the lights

(my mate was in a 4wd) and yes both were red platers

as expected.. arhh those were the days,, seems so long ago now,, but anyway back to the story..
lights turn green... right foot pedals go to the floor and SNAP... hmmmm guessed it yet???? nope not BANG... but SNAP...
Got the phone call saying "hey mate, do you have a spare throttle cable?? Oh and do you know how to fit one?"
So out I come with my one and only spare throttle cable, (almost brand new should I point out) however it wasan't a mini outta cable,, i use different sorts now and grind the ends to fit in the flanged holders... anyway.. out I come with cables and tools, generator and grinder... and pull the old one outta the twin carbies.. start the genny up and cut the cables to length both the inner and outta and grind the outta cable down a bit at each end to slot into teh flanges (if that's what you like to call it) bolt her all up, start her up and was done in 15mins..

awesome.. job done me thinks,...
all the time the young fella and his mates are talking quitely amoungst themselves that I'm going to charge him like $200 buks call out fee, etc,

then at the end, his like "How much do I owe yah?" I'm like that'll be $500 buks mate

arhhhh I love playing cruel....

you should'a seen the look on his face....
He so wanted to give me some money for it, but to me it just felt so nice to help someone who otherwise would have got RACQ and a tow home for a silly throttle cable repair,,, I think he felt so bad for me not wanting anything for it, but I see it as being another mini owner I'm now friends with around my area
Got talking and he was telling me it was his fathers and his just allowed to drive it to work, and how it gets "hot" etc etc, im like yeahhhh,, hmm how hot,, "oh umm as high as the gauge will go.."

so up comes the bonnet again,, i look in the raditor, and gosh,, all I can see is the rad cores, and no water

so out comes my 2 litre water bottle, and would you beleive it, it gobbled the whole lot

and a little bit more.. so that's one problem solved, but told him if his not going to check it or knows how, to get a return cap, etc etc,
"oh and it does this too he says......" "ohh and the brakes are crap.. and the clutch bounces

" so afta this gave the car the quick once over... running farrr to rich,, steering rack ends were all loose, so was about 10 other bolts amoungst the place, and the clutch and brake fluid master pipes mustive had about 1 part fluid to 9 parts air
I can see how he stuggles to drive the thing safely.. so have now made myself a friend whos keen for me to fix all this for him and his father...

3 hrs later... we depart,,, but hey,, I felt so good inside knowing that I could save someone not just a crap load of money in tows, but also keep that one extra mini on the road running safely
Arhh ok so this was a LONG STORY,, but I had to put it up,, I just feel so happy inside right now
