I might ask the Wurth rep when he comes in to work next time. They are sure to sell some sort of good stuff for it. :D

modded 1098 engines I have two
Wife / Mine (just built)
1098 / 998 block
+60 / +40 Pistons
Standard / Balance and straightened Rods
RE13 / RE83 Cam
10:1 / 9.5:1 Compression
+60thou / 20 Head Flat maybe +20thou unsure - 202 Head Skimmed
1098 Cranks for both & are balanced first then with (lightened) fly wheel then back plate and clutch
HIF44 / HS4 Carb
3.44 / 3.6 Diff
Both Running 10" Wheels

Wifes Motor has made 45.4 HP with out a proper tune up but with the Diff its better on the 110kph where mine will be better off at the lights

do what you would do to a 1275 and you will have a all day motor & fun on the week ends. And You I intend to have fun in mine also

I didn't buy it, the plant mechanic stole it from another plant mechanic!

So how did the Wurth stuff go?

I use Castrol HMP wheel bearing grease, it stands the engine heat and doesn't run out.

Yea it seemed to work well. I don't know that it is actually designed for that purpose, but they told me that it'll do the trick, and it did. :D
This is the stuff anyways..... http://www.wurth.com.au/catalogueview.a ... 4_0526.pdf

Cool, thanks for that. Actually looking at the pdf for this wurth stuff, i wonder if it'd do the trick :? ???? or would the grease need to be a bit thicker???

I'd try it and see, most Wurth stuff is good (but pricey).

The old one, the bores are worn??
A 1098 is a 1098, until you modify it.

I dont know why they are different, but that is a bolt on part that you can take off and swap whatever.

I would say one is a mini K motor 10Y and the other a clubman block 1001(something like that)

So an age gap that is my guess. :?

One is a very early Morris 1100 motor and the other is from a later motor with a PCV valve. (1100S, Cooper S, etc)
