Karcraft don't do cams anymore, although they are still on their list.

You could also think about a Wade 113 or 140.

you don't normally "buy" a cam, you send your cam to a cam grinder and they grind the new profile onto it.

GR does a grind for somewhere around $140

To choose a cam, ring your preferred provider and explain what you want to do with your car, and they'll recommend one. In my case, GR is my preferred provider, I ring him and talk about it.

I have an RE83 in my 1275, it's great for low down torque and pulls like a train to my rev limit at 6500.

The published timing figures for the Wade Cams I suggested ^^ are;-

113

Inlet 30 / 65, Lobe Lift 0.262", duration @ 0.050" 212 deg
Exhaust 66 / 30, Lobe Lift 0.262", duration @ 0.050" 212 deg
LSA 107.5 deg

140

Inlet 40 / 70, Lobe Lift 0.296", duration @ 0.050" 238 deg
Exhaust 74 / 41, Lobe Lift 0.297", duration @ 0.050" 238 deg
LSA 106.0 deg

Out of curiousity, what are the published specs on an RE83?

Wade cams here in melbourne have a number of good grinds to suit A series engines, give them a call and tell them what you want and they can help you. Most grinds cost around $70.00, far cheper than anyone else.

dad has a Wade 240 in his Minor (1275) - they said it was equivalent to a Cooper S cam - though it's been in there 20 years so mightn't have quite as much lift as when it went in

wade cam is the only way to go. I have run the 240 in both small bore and 1275's and for a road cam with a good designed head it makes a very torquey motor.
Cam shaft profile is a complicated selection. I have seen identical engines with identical cams, but differences in head design makes a big difference.
With any cam decision get the grind details and compare before deciding.

So with all the people out there who have bought one or had one ground, no one knows the specs? Don't you get a data sheet? How do you know how to time it in?
