Did a trial fit of the new alloy radiator onto the project engine. Measured the distance from the thermostat housing to the outside of the radiator and then checked the Cooper S measurement so I can confirm the engine will fit in the car with the Supercharger pulley and the wider alloy radiator.
Looks OK but pretty close fit, about 3mm clearance. :)

So, did you succeed in fitting a harmonic balancer to the pulley, or are you going to fly without one?

Spoke with GR and he thinks should be OK for the use I will be putting the engine to.
Very limited space between radiator support and pulley, not even enough to fit a fan belt, so radiator loosen job to replace and fit a new belt.

I am still confused by this issue as the original pulley was only a tin pulley which has totally rusted

If it was a tin pulley, it's off an 850 or 998, all others 997-998-1098-1275 got a harmonic balancer either 1 or 2 piece.

Definately was a crappy tin pulley, and I think I have thrown it away as it was so badly rusted. Engine had been reconditioned by a Mini business in Sydney prior to me purchasing the car.

A big block of snow fell almost 16' from the house roof and stuffed the roof of a 1969 MKII Mini Cooper shell with hydrolastic.

So...yesterday I thought why not try jacking up the roof to see if the rear gutter (had been driven down) and the 4 corners could be brought up to shape so a mini roof could be grafted on (minus the pillars of course).

Was great fun hearing the roof "pop" and I let out a Whoop each time. Neighbors must think I'm nuts....

Long story short, the perimeter will support a graft job and the rear gutter came up with the roof sans any contact with jacking pieces.

Could become part of a '69 Cooper S reshell.[/img]

Good to see he is wearing a good pair of Wollondilly safety shoes.

So why is the engine coming out?

Is it dead or we have plans. :)

Safety first as always with Wayne. You should see him dance around when he's welding - still wont put shoes on. :P

Nothing at all wrong with the engine. It has been on loan from Wayne's S for the last couple of years. Time to go back home to the Cooper.

The Moke is getting a bigger motor (stroker) with LSD and a nice new set of wheels and tyres. All completed for Hay of course. :D

I found the old pulley from the 1275LS motor.

As I said, crappy tin pulley.

geez Michael that's a good one, the power of my old twin carb 850 ripped all the rivets out of mine. :P
