Ok experts try and identify this mini for me what is it

I think it may be a 69 morris mini matic

From an old NSW Certificate of registration that was found in the vehicle
and is hard to read VIN YA2S51092 ENG NO 9YATAH26891S

No VIN or data plate or any evidence of rivet holes, there is some numbers stamped into the bonnet channel hard to read

it was fitted with a 1098 manual engine, hydro suspension, auto subframe with little steel blocks for the engine mount, auto acc pedal.

last registered in 1995

Thanks Les

Hi Les, I did a search, and came up with this from Watto. Being a '69, they wouldn't have fitted an ID plate to it

YMA2S5 is certainly Mk2 (or MkII) Mini-Matic (don't forget the hyphen  ) Released in September 1969.

Although mechanically the same as the Mk1 (YMA2S4) it had the same interior trim, including the three-gauge dash, as the Mini K, but was still only 998cc - I think the compression was a little higher or something as well.

It is a rare beastie, so if anyone has one I can photograph for a feature in TME, please let me know.

Cheers,
Watto.

YA2S5 is a MiniMatic (1969 on).
I've had 2 with this body prefix.

The original 998 auto motors in these were all 99H/119/H prefix (imported from UK).

Simon K, there is no `M' in the prefixes, that was dropped in 1969.

Thanks guys

Is there any letters or numbers that should be stamped into the top radiator shroud

the only numbers I have found are stamped into the bonnet gutter drain
they do not relate to the numbers on certificate of registration

Thanks

Les

On a 69 Matic your radiator shroud should have the number, YA2S51092 stamped in.
This is the car number location used for registration on a 1969 or later.
If numbers not there, check for dodgy welding where the shroud meets the inner guard- it may have been changed for `some reason'.

The numbers stamped in the gutter drain are the body number, it's about 500 different.

Ok thanks all for the infomation.

I found the numbers under a lot of paint on the top part of the radiator shroud.

It is a late model Morris Mini Matic 1969

Thanks
