heard a few different ways.

best one so far is rev it to about 2,000 or 2,500 for round 10 to 20mins or so up & down between that range.

i also bought some cam running in oil with a zinc additive .

should i use normal engine oil? the engine has done about 20,000km.

i was thinking best to run it in N/A before i bolt the blower on.

opinions?

what did GR say to do?

have you bought new followers as per his recommendation?

Current thinking is stick it in, start motor & then go DRIVE it for 20 mins or so. Up a hill or two.
Revving it in neutral for 20mins with no load is just a recipe for glazed bores and then poor ring sealing.
When GR runs them in on his engine dyno, he puts part load on it for 15-20 mins. Hard to do this in yer garage....

my engine has done 20,000km so rings bed in a long time ago.

i could just put it in & go driving but what about fuel, my carby was set up for a 266 cam on the dyno.

do you really need load up the car? i assumed there is no load on the cam. just the drive train pistons etc.

Jetting it has will be fine for the running in...
Rejet it later if you need to.

No if the rings etc are bedded in already, then 10-15 mins @2000rpm is fine.
I assumed the engine was a rebuild.

Your Cam supplier should have given you this information. Seek their advice.

do many of you use oil with a zinc additive??

I use SG oils (KMX 20W/50 and Castrol Edge Sport 25W/50).

SG and lower (SE, SF) oils still have ZDDP, it's the SH and later where they lowered or eliminated it.

ok i always use Castrol Edge Sport 25W/50, i have a special cam zinc oil additive also to add to the oil when first running in the cam.

Just a question nick (ok make that 2 ) .... which run in lube did you get... and did the lable say to pour it in the oil or to lather it on the lobes

moly for the cam.

the oil is a pour in type to be mixed with the engine oil when you run the cam in, only use the oil for 100km & then you need to drop the oil & filter & put fresh oil in.
