Hey all. The clubbys got a fuel leak. And I fixed it once by replacing the hose from the pump to the under body lines.

Now its developed a leak again but doesnt look like the hose this time. When I noticed it I could see petrol around the top of the pump near the intake side, So i imagined the hose leaking again. BUT tried to confirm it tonite and after running for a few mins a small dark patch forms from the pressed part of the housing. ie, the two halves of the pumps diaphragm area.
Is this a common this to leak, through this pressed joint?

Also, can a mechy fuel pump be replaced with engine in? just remove intake manifold?

Cheers for any advice :)

Yes it is possible to replace the pump in the car. Should only need to remove the carby/s to gain access.

I'm not sure if you can buy repair kits any more as last time I tried I had to buy a new pump from karcraft as they had not kits

Best solution is to remove pump, fit a blanking plate to cover the hole in the block and fit an electric Pump at the rear of car. Remember that to do this you will need to run a 'Fused' Ignition positive feed to the rear of the car to supply the pump. It is also always better to have the Fuel pump away from Extractors if you have them fitted.

It is a fairly common problem. Sometimes, after removing the pump and placing it in some timber block, you can tap the crimps in a bit tighter. I usually run a bead of Araldite around them too.
