Yep, the price was $800...... was $850 when I ordered it..... will probably be $900 before you know it....

Anything is better than paying $5000 for other kits. Even if it needs a bit of custom work, who cares.... tis CHEEEEEEEEEEP anyways

What are ya gonna do.... buy it somewhere else????

And yep, been on the TOYMODS forum.... they are all sold at the moment. Ive got my name on 3 of em already

a couple questions.. what model toyota did the sc12 come out of, how would i id by looking at it..

is the belt support wheel adjustable

what does the post with split pin do is it a release valve

what parts do i need to take of the toyota, eg drive pulley etc..

what s the best compression ratio to run for 1293 & 1380 motor

how much extra torque , hp does 6-7 pounds of boost give

keep up the good work

cheers

Okay. Will answer those questions. Remember, this is NOT my invention. The creator will let me know if I get anything wrong, but I am sure about 99% of it.

Quote:

4A-GZE Toyota motor. Found in Japanese AE101 and AE92 Corollas, AW11 MR2's, etc. Best one is fitted to AE101 engines (1992-95).

Quote:

Yes. It is mounted on a threaded block that runs up the square shaft up a threaded rod. Adjustment nut is on top.

Quote:

Backfire pressure release valve. Spring loaded valve that expels excessive pressure created by a backfire from the head. Will prevent damaging the supercharger. Directly above that is the boost gauge outlet.

Quote:

ONLY the bare SC12 supercharger. No manifolds, brackets or anything.

Quote:

Lower CR = higher possible boost PSI. Can safely use anything from 7.5 to 8.5 CR. Above 8.5CR gets a bit hot. Over 9.0 is no-mans-land.

Quote:

It all depends on the OTHER things you do to the motor: head work, cam, fuel type, CR, etc...... lets just say: it adds from 35-50%. Have seen a 850cc motor with supercharger (and other engine tweaks) blow away a 1275.

Superchargers will tend to increase torque greater than they can increase horsepower. Opposite theory for turbos.

How does the backfire pressure release valve work? I havent seen one on any other system or any of the turbo set ups do you really need it? Is this a standard crank pulley modified? Looks like a very impressive kit. What are you going to do about your bonnet? Will it fit under there?

1- The force from the backfire is met by the force from the blower - the valve is the first thing that gives way. I assume the spring rate is set to allow 8 or 9 pounds before opening, so as not to lose boost.

2- Yep, dont want to damage the blower do we? Turbos have a blow off valve, it has practically the same safety feature.

3- It is a factory mini pulley (late type). He modifies it in a lathe to create the second pulley drive. Would be possible to fabricate a complete new one from scratch if you wanted a specific boost level.

4- am told it should fit if you cut the top lugs off the supercharger.... but will be damn close. Bonnet bracing may still need removing. Dont know yet.

Sounds good. Do you think the supercharger would get very hot? You would'nt want it to cause heat damage to the bonnet! What type of power do you think you will get out of this combination? Im still trying to make my mind up which way to go for my mini! What about tuning the carb and distributor? Will your pulsar dizzy be fine to use? Thanks

Have seen many a mini here and abroad that have vents or inserts in the bonnet at specific locations to vent the hot air.... so that would be a viable option, and it looks quite good cosmetically as well IMHO

Turbos get hot MAINLY because of the exhaust gas that is used to propel it. Compressing cool air will heat it up, but not to exhaust temperatures.

Superchargers?? Hardly as much. The engine will still be the hottest thing under the bonnet.

Venting a mini bonnet will most likely make the engine run hotter, as air will escape thru these vents without going thru the radiator. Not good. A front mount radiator is best with a vented bonnet.

What type of power? HORSE power I guess....

Power increase is dependant on the WHOLE engine package.... the more mods you do to compliment it, the more you will get out of it. As a straight bolt on, it will probably get you 25 or 30 percent more. Then add a cam, head work, tuned ignition, higher octane fuel types, etc etc... and you will "release" the available power... maybe up to 50 or more percent

Carb tuning is not a problem..... if you leave it to a dyno tuning professional.

Pulsar dizzy will not be good enough in its standard form... will also need added tuning and modifying. Advance curve will be wrong.
