My 1977 Australian Leyland Mini has been on axle stands for the last 9 months while rust was being removed.

With everything on the list crossed off, all that needed doing was a quick bleed of the brakes... however, with the brakes bled, 4 new flexible brake hoses, brakes adjusted (I have even adjusted the brakes so they were too tight, ie: couldn't turn wheels at all) still the pedal goes straight to the floor.

My concern is that no matter how much I pump the pedal, It does NOT firm up. Always pedal goes to the floor (maybe 10mm from the floor after a few pumps.

Any ideas????

I had my clubman up in the air for a few years and had the same issue when it came down. I crimped off the hoses using brake hose crimps to find the issue was at the master end - not the wheels. I tried everything you have written above. The issue I had was air was in the pipe that comes out the top of the master as this hose is above the fluid.
I gravity fed it overnight by backing the union off just below the M/C. Then I bled the master to the union and reconnected the union and bled it at all wheels to make sure.
Pedal came up a treat - the best I ever had the drum brakes on a mini. (which since have been replaced with discs!)

I'm no expert but this may help, it fixed my issue.

when i rebuilt my mini (77 leyland) it was on jack stands for 9 months.
when i put it down the brakes were the same as you have discribed. local mini mechanic said put in a new master cylinder.
i did and the brakes work fine now.

If it's been parked a while, check it's not sucking air in the rear wheel cylinders when you let the pedal up.. I've seen this happen. New seals fixes it.

When we sold Barney I finished up getting the tandem MC pressure bled, it's the only way I could get a good high pedal. I hate those tandem cylinders (which were no safer than a single back then anyway). Get a rear line leak anywhere and the fronts don't work, either.
