Actually I like my KAD Quikshift. After 20 years it grows on you. IMHO the main benefit is that the lever is longer so you can actually reach it when sitting in an aftermarket seat.

With a steering drop bracket, the knob is about a handwidth from the edge of the steering wheel in 4th - and not much further in any other gear.

Cheers, Ian

if you have a magic wand gear stick they drop straight in the remote box,
shave the bush (see below) the then cut the stick to a desired height, tap a thread on it, voila shorter throw stick

because the stick is so long it has a shorter throw to compensate for the length

get the two sticks with the bushes on the bottom stand them up on a flat surface and note the height difference, trim the bottom of the "wand bush" so that the large spheres are the same height

i polished mine while i had it out, alot of sanding

the difference of the sticks is only 3 or 4mm
but i did some rough maths on the sticks with a ruler and some butchers paper
after pivoting both sticks on an axis moving the lower ball 1cm and measured the travel of each stick 30cm from the pivot
stock stick travel was 7.6cm
the wandtype was 6.4cm
so at 30cm height above pivot (where the gearknob is) the travel was reduced 1.2cm per 1cm of lower ball travel
i would measure the travel between first and second but my bushes are worn and that travel would differ for all you guys

i have a rod change and i have a KAD quickshift, its great, everything feels a lot firmer. There is nothing to complain about. if you have one its a shorter shift, i can't think of any reason why you would want a longer shift distance soooooo therefore they are better. if you were to truly want one you will buy one out of curiosity.
