It's the same as the one on my car, which should be the same as what's on your car. What do you want to know?
:D

I suspect Bob is looking for a smaller alternator for his 7 port project..

Ah, well then in that case there is plenty of alternators smaller than the stock late rover one. Check out basically any thread by NG.

Oh bugger. From the photo's looks like it's mounted between the engine and radiator or is it just my optics again

No free space in there, it's stock.

If you're using an MPI block, you'll be able to make an adapter that allows an alternator to sit lower than stock, say where the AC compressor would be (on the cars that have it).

Reckon there is room even with the front mounted rad ?

No experience there, but I'd guess it probably won't.

If you leave the front radiator, the alternator will probably have to get turned around so the body is on the other side of the belt.

That's what it looks like has been done in that pic of the Ute.
It really looks like it's further to the right than usual. (zoomed in @ 400%)

So you have an MPi with a side mounted rad/thermo fan ? didn't realise that.
When I fit the 7 port kit the coil pack gets mounted on top of the clutch so there may be room to move the rad/fan to the left and make room for a repositioned alternator.

you want a nippon denso alternator.

the real tiny ones only pump out max 45 amp

but you can get the same type but not re wound totally new internals & worked from the usa.

i was about to order from these guys, cheap price for what it does and really good to deal with but ended up with a ebay special.

http://www.gzmotorsports.com/

http://www.gzmotorsports.com/racing-alternators.html

from memory he said this still charges in the same rev range as a normal alternator and half the size.. i would email him though.

my set up is different again.

Thanks Nick and Dean. I have already bookmarked the GZ site and have my eye on their A101. Whatever I get needs to put out about 65A min.
I guess I have to get the head resting in place before I really can see what can go where

See you at the GDO ?
