Just a tip , once the hessian is fully dry, spray it with a heavy coat of Scotchgard on BOTH sides , as much as you can , helps to protect the floor and is a fire retardant ( to a degree )

went to drive home from school, and mini wouldnt start, nothing, just a click, went home got another solonoid, went back to school to try to fix it. checked and cleaned batter terminals pulled ignition out, swapped solonoids over still nothing put old solonoid back on. Rang a mate to ask what it could be. Told me what he thought and how to fix it went back to school to try it, did it and fixed.

Starter motor was stuck on my flywheel, stuck in gear and rocked it, back and forth, came unstuck and then Started no worried.

I had a great day in the shed.

Spent my birthday Tradetools vouchers on lots of little tools that will come in handy. One was a sand blaster.

Sand blasted the outside of 3 steering racks in preparation for sending them away for a rebuild. Had a quick look inside the boots and they all look ok to me. Should be good for re-build.

Packed the racks into PVC tubes with one fixed and one screw-on end. Had to cut a slot down the tubes to let the pinion spline poke through. 100mm diameter isn't enough

Installed my new parts washer. It's a 3/4 width dishwasher a neighbour gave me for nothing. It now lives next to the laundry tub in my shed.

I should get the "all clear" from my Ortho Surgeon soon so I can start getting stuck into the heavy stuff again. Back surgery was the best thing I ever had done, just want the go ahead to get stuck in to the Mini again.

Cheers,

Dicko

struggled to get her going - rough as guts at first and took several goes to tick over - was fine when warmed slightly tho so took my youngest daughter for a spin around the Gong.

Took my eldest daughter and 3 of her mates for a spin last night and they were equally thrilled and shitting themselves to be in such an old small car. Tho then my eldest decided it will be hers when she can go for her license! ha ha ha don't know about that my dear !

I wasn't there but the missus says they had a different tool to the one from minisport and it all slipped in easily. One man fed the chrome strip into the seal, the other slid the tool along.

Ive tried to get a better description of the tool but she can't really give me a more precise answer other then it wasn't the same. It mightve been exactly the same, but a different colored handle!

Mine is one I got from minispares in the UK. Has a diamond shaped head on it and took me five minutes each strip by myself once I figured out how it works..
