Nothing fantastic but necessary - managed to get the stubby bit of braided fuel hose onto the fuel tank and connect up the fuel sender ( with a stripped thread on the positive terminal  )

Went to the other end of the car and found the next three things I went to work on needed something extra I didn't have :?

Finished the rewiring. Headlights, blinkers, parking lights and filled the engine with fresh oil and radiator with water and turned the key :)
Discovered the radiator fixing bolts rubbing on the pulley  and thought I may need to remove the radiator :? , but luckily I managed to make some adjustments and got some clearance. Turned over the engine and got oil pressure so now just need to get exhaust fitted and hopefully start the engine

Pulled the steering column out of the moke and replaced the bottom felt bush, now the inner doesn't rock around in the outer.

Pulled the new uk rack out of storage and pulled back one boot. No grease at all on rack gears and the blob on the inner ball joint was not on the bits that slide against each other

Put gear oil in it and grease on all wearing bits. Much better now. Then I worked out it is a quick rack  Which isn't what I want on the moke (that's what is in there now). I guess I'll just wait for my reconditioned racks from the Doc. Not in a rush though, the motor still needs work.

No rush Doc. I have a list of jobs as long as your arm, the motor won't be going back in soon.

Circled everywhere that I have to sand back to panel beat. Compiled a list of everything I need to buy on my day off.

More progress on the Moke's motor. Took the clutch housing and pressure plate off but can't find my puller :( The oil that dribbled out of the flywheel housing when I took the wok off told me the source of the slipping clutch issues...

Took the water pump off and was very happy with the lack of corrosion given the years it has spent sitting.

Took the head off to check it over and replace the stem seals. The old stem seals are not brittle but very stiff. They were stiffer than those that I took of an old 1100S head I had in storage which were very similar to those fitted to the Pierce head so those have lasted much better than the Mokes. I'm going to try those viton ones next I'm sick of crappy ones.

Here's a couple of pics of progress:

The marks down the back of the motor show where the exhaust gasket was blowing.

I was happy that there was no significant wear on the rocker shaft but the ends of the push rods look a bit blurgh.

I also did some measurements of racks and played with some heads.

Fitted the fuel tank, carby and tried to finish the brake lines and bleed the brakes but unfortunately discovered one of the new pipes is about 20mm too short :?
So back to the brake shop tommorrow
