The elder head is the only one going out on a limb. But theres some good preliminary results.

There has been over 200 hp twinkys made with turbos, and getting very good results naturally aspirated, and a few pierce heads are running now.

Ours runs fine just with the standard mechanical fuel pump. Currently playing with the carb setup but it still runs and has been drivable since fitting the carbs.

Have you flooded the engine and the plugs are too wet to fire? Or you could take the tops of the carbs and see if there is fuel in the float chambers.

So has anyone bolted this one standard out of the box-ish yet?
Onto a standard motor?

Might sound silly, but has anyone stuck one these onto a small bore?

Would it defeat the purpose of the exercise fitting a big SU carb to supply fuel and air to all inlets? Im just thinking you could have a compact inlet manifold with an SU out to the left hand side and tubro charged.

The SU would simply be in leiu of a fuel injected throttle body set up.

You could do that, it would be the same principal as having a bmw head with a plenum chamber fed by turbo through a carb/throttle body injector.

I don't know enough about all that to tell you if you would be going backwards (if you just used it without a turbo) but it would work.

It will fit under a Clubman without any body mods but not a round nose. I have had one running for a couple of months now and good bang for your bucks. Check to head and make sure it is flat, mine was not. If you have a Clubman the throttle linkage is no good because you cant close the bonnet. Keep in mind that to change plugs you will have to remove the Webers unless you have a special plug spanner that you can not buy. You will have to rejet the Webers as they will not run right as they are.

I've taken a pair of valves out to have a closer look at the head. The inside radius between the horizontal portion of the port and the pocket immediately behind the valve is very very tight and needs smoothing on moth valves. On the exhaust it is an even depth in the pocket but on the inlet it is a varying edge. I can take more pics if anyone's interested.

In line with older 12G940 standard (middle) and a late 80's MG Metro 12G940 as well.

I reckon the plug pocket is too sharp on the edges and the pluc tip actually lives way down in there so maybe it's worth opening it up a lot? The chamber volume may get too big then??

And the valves that came with it are the far right of these pics:

Might not be a problem with torquing down the head after all.

http://www.minimania.com/web/threadid/1 ... thread.cfm

I reckon done in several stages it should be fine.
