O.k so I installed my gauge yesterday and all good!! But 2 things...

1/ Might need to get a slighly longer speedo cable as it was a bit tight to connect

2/ The red igniton light did not come on at all where as the other lights on the clock all light up o.k, the ignition clock side was a white cable and then was connected to the white/brown cable from the other side which would have been going to the plug which would have been connected to the 2 clock cluster.

Any ideas guys?

Hey guys,

My mini died on me yesterday and am a bit paranoid if it had to do with the clock I had installed?

Like I said above the ignition light does not come on so would that effect the alternator/battery?

Cheers

Rich

If the ignition light is not in circuit (ie working) your (Lucas) alternator won't charge.

Right so I have put the old clocks back in and everything is working fine inc the ignition light.
What am I missing to make the new clock work? See above to the wiring colors I have matched.

Or you could just connect up the indicator lamp... one side to the switched side of the ignition switch and the other to the alternator. I think it goes to the output side but its the thin wire attached to a terminal marked "ind" on my alternator.

If you can't buy a bespoke loom its easy enough to chase the various wires through and add the required extra length and fittings to connect to the spades on the speedo..

Cheers, Ian
