Thanks for the replys. So what im hearing is that my HIF44 is actually a really god carb. I might keep that on then (save a bit of money for the body work) Shame the single HIF44 doesnt look as good as a webber or twin SU's. Im running the carb on a minispares heated inlet manifold similar to the one below. Are there many inlet manifolds much better than this or are the differences minimal?

when you look at the big power UK cars, they're all using HIF44's too

I think the minispares heated manifold is meant to be one of the best, but the next step up is a Russell Engineering 7" jobbie.

so nobody has driven an alfa ( i know dirty word ) with factory webers ?

as said before properly tuned they dont fart cough ... but if they are jetted wrong

Beanie

I've tuned Alfas (I was into Alfas and Fiat twincams) and you are right, BUT that doesn't apply with 1x 45 Weber with BIG chokes (for HP) on a 5 port 1275-1400cc A series though. Totally different kettle of fish.
Leave Alfa's std air correctors & emulsion tubes in, and your A series won't hardly run.
Your Alfas have ony 32mm chokes is a 40 carb (usually) and their cylinders are way bigger. So yeah, you can nail em off the line- where's the top end though.
If you are going to choke a 45 Weber down so far it runs nice down low on a road Mini you may as well fit an SU or 2, and get MORE HP.

Everybody sells the Minispares one, if you want Graham Russell's RE7 manifold you need to ring him.
Note that you may have trouble fitting an air filter with this manifold, they stick back a long way.
here's pics-

I gave up due to lack of room and sold the RE7, then fitted a Minispares one with a 20mm spacer. Not as good performance, but at least it fits!

Spend what you wouldve spent on a weber on a russell engineering manifold.
Doesnt have the looks of twins but itll work a lot better.

I thought it was all about the looks :)

Don't forget about what Filter or "Filters" you are going to fit?

Thanks LS1380. I just slightly got over the fact that it wont look as good. That was before your reply. ATM it has a ramflow filter on it.
