Importing a second hand engine and importing a set of new rims
is very different. If I'd have paid an extra $500 for door to door
shipping I'd have saved 500-1000 dollars.
Because I went for the pick up at the port I've had logistics fees in Aus and Aus customs broker fees.
A licence to import an engine is required and an inspection too. In all the fees in Aus to get the bloody thing are more than the engine with freight.
That excludes the fact I now need quarantine storage because I didn't
know any of this and customs takes 3 weeks. In all I've waisted a shed
load of cash in Aus import fees making it a VERY expensive stock standard
engine. I've imported brand new stuff before (keeping below the $1000)
delivered to my door without issue. Goods hitting the ports though seems
to be an all out assault on your hard earned.
