This is going to be our rebuild thread.

At present I am confused.
We (daughter & I) purchased a "rust free" round nose body and bits, firewall #23890 (which Morris 1100 tells me is 1967-thanks).

I have discovered whilst fixing up the rust and stripping paint and bog off that the front panel and both front mudguards have been replaced and signs of accident damage to front inside panels. Thats OK. But what is confusing me is that the rear lights are a welded in rectangular section. It looks as if it is a clubman rear section with roundy tail lights welded in. There is also a welded in plate covering up a drivers side fuel filler hole. I can see no sign that the rear panels have ever been replaced.
Is this normal?

When the Clubby came out in 1971, it was trendy back then to fit Clubby tail lights.
And RH tanks have always been popular to add if big motors are fitted.
If it is a 67 the wipers should park on the driver's side, and the scuttle top panel should be flat, not dished in where the wiper shafts are.

Other way round in this case, isn't it? Emulating the look of a Mk 1 in a Mk 2/3/4.

No, he is emulating the look of a Mk1 on a Mk1.

I'd say someone put Clubby lights in it, then someone else thought that looked shizenhausen, and converted back to Mk1 lights with the insert panels you can get.

Thanks for making our confusion less confused. So we do still have a Mk1 it is good to know.

Today we finished stripping all the paint and bog off it.

Should I weld up this hole above the drivers side rear light or is it for something?

Is the number on the top of the radiator vent cowl meant to match the body number?

This car has (i think) 112 above 05 and then the number 23403.

are the studs on the front suspension towers removable/replaceable?

Yes the studs do come out but are often rusted in. WD40 or penetrene soak overnight followed by Mr LPG torch (or a good hot air gun) will free them up.

apart from the missing stuff I don't have is there any other parts that I should grab off them that is potentially going to be useful?

Check the numbers on the head (somewhere between the valves or near the thermostat), block and gearboxes (behind the oil filter). The subframes and suspension components can be useful, wiper motors, check the numbers on the bodies mainly the straight one just to see what they actually are. The seat frames may be worth something but by the looks of it theirs not much more left on the shells.
From the looks of it the yellow/white one looks like an 850 so if the doors aren't too bad they could be worth some cash (good ones go for $200 each).
The red shell if it's not to rusty could be worth saving or selling aswell.
