Hi all,

Just a quick one, adjusted the roller rockers today and the adjuster screws are screwed nearly all the way into the rocker...i.e. most of it is sticking out of the bottom. Is this an issue? Still had enough screw to tighten the retaining nuts, but only just!!

cheers

Small or big bore? Is it happening to just one or all of them?

Do you have spacers under the rocker posts? If you do, you may need to remove the spacers which will give you correct height (or visa versa, can't remember to be honest).

The correct angle of the rockers should be slightly raised on the valve end when the valve is closed. From what it sounds, it's far too low at the front and when fully open may be passed the correct angle where the roller is no longer centred on the valve tip, esp if you have a high lift cam.

It's a big bore and the rockers are 1.5 high lift roller rockers. No spacers fitted. has me (once again) stumped. can't see any other way of adjusting the rockers without machining a bit off the posts...

What brand are the rockers...?
Some have more adjustment than others.

I'd say your cam has been reground by a lot, which has reduced its base circle diameter & dropped the pushrods lower.
To get more threads, decking the head a bit more would help.

There are 2 lengths: 850-998-1098, and 1275 which are about 3/8" longer.
I doubt you have the short ones, in a 1275...

The Minispares 1.5 roller rockers have a standard size 5/16" adjuster screw as used on Cooper S forged, also the late A+ style sintered rockers (1976 on).
However the rockers & adjusters fitted are not made in UK now, perhaps they are slightly shorter than originals.
I recently swapped a full set out, because all 8 were bent from new.

If your pushrods are too short they will almost hit the hole in the head itself?

Post some pics of it, that might help

EDIT: here's what mine looked like with 1.3's . Take note of the angle of the rockers when closed. If yours is pointing too far down at the front (or up for that matter) then something is not right and it may foul either the head, the rocker cover or both

OK I was just checking the adjuster spare thread length, seems plenty on yours.
Maybe he does have smallbore pushrods in it then... :?
