I'm interested in putting electric windows in my clubman.

I know people have done this and has been discussed before. But I did a search and couldn't find it

So What kit did people use and how did they do it.

Thanks Bubba

Yeah, I've done it a few times, easy. No kit. Works a treat.

Hmmm, well that doesn't help me any.....

if you dint buy an electric window kit where did you get the parts?

I remember ages ago looking up a kit someone posted up (obviously not a specific mini kit, but a universal kit that was easily adapted).

People have done it a few ways before. GTs above uses the original regulator, probably with the electric window motor from a small car welded to the input pinion.
If you have the skills to make something like this its probably the best solution.

I know Archangel used a generic kit (SPAL possibly) so flip through his El Gato thread for photos, and I have the SPAL kit in my car and they work fine, not quite OEM looking and bit of work to fit - but they are universal to nearly anything. Good thing about them is if something goes wrong the repair mission is pretty easy.
The universal kits adapt to the crank input of the original regulator, so this must be in good condition in order for the arrangement to work properly.

The rover/mayfair kit in the above post is pretty much useless to an aussie car. Its for UKmk3 types onward - those doors are wider inside and don't have a regulator mount welded onto the doorskin like aussie cars. You could probably adapt it but would be a pain.

Before I went with the SPAL kit, I looked at using the scissor type levers from small cars, but found them too bulky, and I also looked at hot rod kits which look very simple to install, except they're pretty big heavy construction, and again, really too tricky to cram in.

I'm thinking of doing this at some point, if there's not one already, would you care to put up a build/Installation thread?

I used a kit similar to this, Does away entirely with the original mechanism and fits behind a stock door card. So less chance of mechanical failure, It was not easy to install either.
