Hi Bill
I bought the clip-on one and some clips for my "68 deluxe and not only was it a bloody pain to fit, it leaked.
I ended up replacing it with the on-body type which was easy to fit and sealed better.
I guess it depends on whether you prefer originality over functionality.
Cheers
Dave

Thanks dave , functionality works best for me .

I bought the original foam boot lid rubber, was a PITA to fit on with repro clips, so as a gesture to modernity I flung all those damned clips and used Selleys Kwikgrip contact adhesive. Looks OK and works fine.

Sounds the same as dave's problem so i will get the body one and some selly's kwickgrip :-).

Thanks again Dave & Doc

Cheers Bill

Be careful buying bootlid rubbers, some are too hard and need 3 people to shut the boot.
Here's what to look for-
http://www.minisport.com.au/prod505.htm

I think Mini King carries the soft one also, not sure about Kc and other suppliers.

They do get better with time, but it took about 9 months on mine to get better (Bootlid w/ clips type)
