Are there any Classic Mini owners in the Hervey Bay area that want to catch up and chat Minis?

Probably the same number of owners in my area...........one. (Pomona)

I have holidayed in Mooloolabah for the last couple of years and have often been tempted to put it up on here for others in the surrounding areas to find a central spot and catchup and do the same .

I am hopefully coming up again this year so i might chuck it out there .

Pomona isn't that far away.

My brother has house at Burrum Heads, that's close. Only problem is he'd like a Mini but doesn't have one.

What stage are you up to with yours, mines about a month or so away from rego..........I hope.

No such luck here just starting on my voyage. I have stripped it down had the subframes blasted and powder coated, purchased a new interior and I am now stripping the paintwork and fixing up the bodywork should be done in what 3 - 4 years.

How are you stripping it, the hard way with wire brushes, discs etc? If so you should concider soda blasting, I got mine done, well woth it. Cost $900 but that's inside and out and back to new steel. He soda blasts paint off a then sand(?) blasts the rust spots. If you add up the time/money/ground fingers/ skinned knuckles etc it's not so bad $ wise. Also, wire brushes etc don't get into cracks and grooves etc.

Doing it the hard way I am afraid using a paint stripping disc cuts through it really well, going to take me a while but haven't got the money at the moment. I did by myself a sandblasting gun with a hoper for all the awkward areas. so slowly but surely.

im stripping mine the hard way also ,but im using a wire brush on a drill bit and use this to do the seams ,roof gutter,and grooves of the floor...then im using paint stripper to remove the rest ($40 for 4 ltrs from bunnings) it tears off the paint ....once paint is removed , I use metho to wipe down the panel to remove any residue of paint stripper , then give the panel a quick buzz with the orbital sander just to rough it up ,then I wipe it down with prepsol then undercoat the panel , yes it is a long process but ive not spent $200 and the money I save from getting it sand/soda blasted can (actually will haha) be spent on other mini parts ....as much as I want to get it soda blasted to make life easier I just cant spend that extra money , if I can do it with a bit of elbow grease haha

I am hearing you there the more money for parts the better I have big plans for my little Mini would like to fit a Honda engine and that aint going to be cheap.
