Hi all,

Not real exciting I suppose, but I am wrapped, After visiting my mate at his panel shop with my original bonnet, some cleaning and polishing and a few spray outs, I have the formula for the original Baltic Blue for my Mini K. It is in MIPA colours, if anyone needs the formula, let me know, I have it here. :D
NowI just have to finish the body/rust repairs.

PS, I should mention it is the 1970 colour off the charts I found on here (and the underside of my bonnet). Thanks guys, you are a trove of info!!

pturnedge - are you staying with acrylic for the re-spray? In any case could you post the formula here please, or PM it to me.

I will need to do mine this year so interested in how yours progresses. Are you happy to share the name of the panel shop you are using, assuming they are Mini sympathetic?

Hi Winabbey,
The colour looks great all over (apart from under the bonnet, mine was white when I got it, with red, burgendy, orange you name it, it had some of that colour on it :D )
I am going clear over base for the paint job, will get a nice gloss that will last a lot longer than the acrylic (a bit tougher). I am not going concours, so I am happy with the enamel, but I know a lot of people are using acrylic for authenticity. I am keeping everything else as original as I can.

The guy doing the spraying will be Paul Rankin at Rankin's Panels in Bayswater vic. He is a mate of mine, I worked for him for a while too, he is an Alfa nut, but he basically specialises in any old cars, we worked on 356 Porches, many, many Alfa's, Ferrari's and a few Holdens (HK, HZ) Currently he has a few Alfa spiders down there, with a 365 GT 2+2 Ferrari and a bloody big BMW X5 (smash repair, but not his bread and butter) We did a MK1 replica there a few years ago before I moved on, so he also has the formula for one of the BRG shades and Old English White.

Once sprayed, we wet rubbed the cars with 2000 for a mirror finish buff.

MIPA have given me the following formula for the Baltic Blue:
900 - 35.0
500 - 30.6
310 - 18.9
950 - 1.7
620 - 12.0

I am hoping to have my shell ready for paint at xmas this year. (I also said that last year)
