I believe a mod is needed to run the old RV1 (inductive loop) ones with electronic ignition.

I didn't think the mods needed were this drastic though!

The current impulse type ones work fine. I'd buy one of these if you want a Smiths, personally I'd buy something else with better damping.

I have a smiths inductive loop tacho (after market, not clubman style) with A+ electronic ignition.
Works well with no mods.

No problem at all on SimonBBC and also another identical on a Accuspark. The Accuspark is for low ohm coil.
Both were running on old RVI Smiths Tachos.

The Simon BBC now runs an Accuspark Stealth Blackbox, also without any problems from the RVI Tacho.

I had an RV1 on Barney with a Pulsar electronic dizzy. It worked, but wasn't accurate. Worse on hot days. Could have been the old tacho- components ageing.
