Thought this drawing showing the configuration of the Mark 1 Mini seats might be of interest.

The rubber seat platform (also called flexolator and diaphragm in some documents) has a UK part number but the later MK II Series seats used an Australian produced part.

Producing these drawings is what phillb's Dad did for a living back in the day when he worked for BMC/Leyland. Unfortunately, Phill, this one was drawn and checked by other draughtsmen.

OK got the chairs stripped down by the upholsterer. Im going to get the frames blasted and powder coated.

It would appear that the seat springs have been played with at some stage of these chairs life????

How should they be attached???

It sort of appears that some of the springs are pointing upward, and I did notice that the seat foam on one chair appeared to have a rise in it????? Could this have been caused by the spings pushing upwards?

Can anyone advise how these springs should be attached?

Also.... the rubber cap on the seat adjuster, Id like to get that off before they go for blasting etc... any tips on how I could do this??? Maybe hair dryer to soften it up a bit??

And what colour do people think I should do these seats???? Currently Ive got Red Sparco Sprints in the front and the rear seat is trimmed with black vinyl but the portion of the rear seat where you sit, it red vinyl....

Im thinking just doing all the seats black vinyl with black cloth insert where you sit???? My old man reckons to go red cloth......? That might be a bit to lolly?

You can kind of see here what Im talking about with the seat base pushing upwards?

Those springs look like they were taken out of a lounge chair.

Ok cool. I'll order a pair of them. How many of the little steel clips are there that hold the vinyl to the chair??? Thinking I should get a few new ones of them to???

Enough to fit them when you order. You also need the spring section that runs up the back of the car. I got those from minispares.com as I couldn't find the in oz.

I am going to get seat foam from these folks. Called them and these said they had a trimmer on site and can cut foam to size if you have the old foam. http://www.luxafoamnorth.com.au rough price for two sections for you bum was $20.

Those frames look ok. I wouldn't blast if they are ok. I got acetone onto mine and a bit of elbow grease and rubber bit for my angle grinder and they came up great. Cleaned any metal exposed with rust converter and sprayed in satin black.

I'll get the upholsterer to make up some new foam. I'm not sure what condition the rear back spring is in?? I never got to see it??? I would hope it's actually there......

I'm mainly going to get the legs blasted and power coated. They are a bit rusty.

OK so the upholster reckons the foam is pretty sh ithouse. And he suggested that I source that instead of them trying to make something up...

So it seems that I need:

Back section internal spring

Back section foam:

Bottom rubber mat/spring

Bottom foam

http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... 0to%20shop

And some trim clips, but Im not sure how many???

To re-do my Torana seats front and rear cost me $1500, I supplied the NOS Nylex Long Grain Vinyl and NOS Cloth insert, which cost me $1000.....
