Hi
I am fitting a pair of new HS4 carbies to my car and I see they have the floating type needle.
Can I or should I convert them over to the fixed type needle and if so what parts do I need to do so
and where is the best place to buy them

Cheers and thanks in advance

not necessarily - the little retaining collar on the springy needles comes off pretty easily, so you can put them in the converter adapters, but you might find they're worn from rubbing against the jets.

otherwise, you can use my SU needle thingy to find equivalent fixed needles. Springy needles have a 3 letter code, fixed needles have a 1-2 digit plus number code.

what needles do you have now?

Needles is needles....

If the needle profile you need comes in a fixed type needle it fits straight in. If its a swinging needle then you fit it using the little adaptor....

The trick is finding what profile you need, either "kind" of needle will fit in your carbs..

Cheers, Ian

carbies are brand new and needles are AAK so I will just be using these as a starting point anyway
I need to buy a couple of ram-flow filters and assume that I probably need the offset ones ??

Cheers and thanks

yeah, but they're no good unless you put some proper filter elements in them. Though I got some really nice ones from Midel that take a standard type 5" paper filter

I run an oiled Unifilter foam pad in my Ramflo and I find when I wash it out that it does pick a lot of stuff up. They flow better than the Lynx foam. But I'd not use them on a rally car.
