This discussion reminded me of this thread - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=85906&

Also, whilst the image below is of a seat belt mounting point test that involved a pneumatic ram pulling the B pillar mounting point inwards it does show the performance of the door closing mechanism and hinges that kept the door in the closed position. So it's quite possible the Australian Mini door met all the relevant ADR's at that time.

I don't think I found child restraint anchors either

No bars in mine either.

The lights were in the dash above the instrument cluster.

There are captive nuts on mine.

Hey Michael, any recent photos of your car? It's a gem I reckon. I'll be interested to see if the Binky car surpasses it in terms of finish..

My '79 leyland has no bars. Does have the handbrake light and brake fail light too (although the brake fail is now a 'low brake fluid' light).

I think it has captive nuts too, with a plate welded to the parcel shelf to spread the load.

Where does the 'brake fail' light fault come from?

In the body of the master cylinder is a switch that will activate if there is a pressure differential from one of the brake circuits.

The dual circuit master cylinder turns on the light when one circuit fails.

I have found out what needs to be done and it costs $1300. That's why I'm asking if anyone has a mini with internal hinges that has compliance.

I would suggest this is a somewhat irrelevant question....

I think you'll find that pretty much all Mins that have been "complianced" (other than Oz minis issued with a compliance plate at the factory) have internal hinges - and, indeed, the exact same hinges your car will have. (So the obvious answer is - yes).

The point is whether the compliancing officer will sign your paperwork based on what you have.

Many ADRs (brake lines are one example) allow (Aus) compliance to be demonstrated by showing that the item meets the relevant international standards; ie British Standard/MILSPEC etc .

Cheers, Ian

As Ian has said, all Rover minis complied in Australia would have the same hinges as yours.

Have you talked to these guys yet? They do import compliance for Japanese cars

I have talked to them. I just want to talk to someone who has got a uk/Irish car through the compliance.
