It will rev higher but there is no need.

as for the 10psi per 1000 rpm - I think it was Smokey Yunick talking in relation to small block chevs or NASCAR motors - one or the other.

Once you get beyond 100psi you are starting to test the spin-on oil filters. They start blow the seal out at those sort of pressures.

Ive kept an eye on the oil pressure for the last few days and it starts on about 80 when cold then fluctuates between 50 and 75 when up to temp. 50 when sitting at the lights then goes up to 75 when driving. From what ive read online It appears that this is normal for a car but i havent found anything specific for minis.

This time of year, those numbers are normal.
Idle pressure will drop a bit in Summer, that's normal too.
