Hey all

I need some hydro fluid for the weekend does anyone in WA have any or know where I can get some in a hurry??

Guessing I won't be able to get it from Minisport in the timeframe as interstate fluid postage will be slow and I live a little out of metro. Any help or ideas much appreciated..... Prefer to get proper stuff that use the 50:50 mix option.

Ta

+2 for Castrol Anti-Freeze. I use 50/50 mix, the benefit of using anti-freeze in your suspension is that it will stop your radiator from freezing. No, really... it says so on the bottle :)

Nulon or Valvoline green glycol concentrate is ok too. Just don't but any pre-mixed lollywater!

I saw at the local Mini place their mix was 14 parts water, 6 parts methanol, 5 parts glycol
So whats the Methanol for
Just another antifreeze ingredient
I want to make my own brew

Yes I have also used 1 part nulon concentrate to 1 part distilled water. Basically a more concentrated mix of coolant.

Edit: another option I have heard is methylated spirit instead of water. Maybe this would lower the freezing point further. Perhaps if you lived in Alaska this may be a consideration.

I found this info as to what was in this fluid
49% alcohol
49% distilled water
1% triethanolamine phosphate
1% sodium mercaptobenzothiazole

I actually use the antifreeze straight up... whether or not that's a good thing I don't know

that's the original recipe... alcohol to stop it freezing, water to make it cheaper, the other 2 ingredients (dunno which is which) is rust inhibitor and something to stop the mechanics drinking it
