I haven't restored a Cooper, but is it correct to have your flasher mounted on the bulkhead like that. They are a fragile switch, and not water tight. I would expect them to be under dash mounted like all other minis.

you probably have enough people checking their looms and cars to sort the issue out but.........................er...........I noticed the flasher can is installed where I thought it should go on my 997....aka as per the English cars but I was advised by vintage wiring harnesses and I think perhaps Stephen Dalton (sorry SD) that the Australian assembled cars had a sub-harness for the FL5 to extend the wiring back inside the cabin and place the can on the steering column bracket so the audible "tinking" was heard by the driver.
My 997 had this little plastic sheathed loom and so has this feature.

The Mini parts books show a sub-harness for the turn indicator can connection. Also sub-harnesses for the interior roof lamp and the horn.

I do have a bunch of sub-harnesses, I'll double check. What is the wiring arrangement for the regulator on your 997? I cant wait to see a pic of an original setup.

My mistake on the flasher can location, yes i do have a sub harness to relocate it inside the car. I was misled by Parnel & Original Mini Cooper!

....and hopefully if its an original sub-harness it has the Bakelite and Formica three pin plug too.

Just quickly...I'm certain my harness breaks the voltage regulator wires out (in cotton braid for about 5 inches) right after the loom passes through the hole in the gusset plate next to the reg.
Must admit your picture of the loom looks rather more suited to a Mk1 Cooper S.

also....don't mean to be nosy but I think your brass brake pipe tee-piece is backwards. I cant quite make out where your master cyl pipe is going into but I think the tee-piece should face the other way and feed the front brakes off the side outlet and the rear brake off the bottom outlet.

I'll go away now.........

Below is the Mini flasher can extension harness that went into production in March 1961, so presumably would've applied to Morris 850's and subsequent models such as the Cooper. Interestingly it specifies a total length of 60 inches (about 1.5 metres) with black PVC covering over all but the last 3 inches.

It heads off to the remotely located brake booster located inside the car under the passenger dash rail.
