yeah, less power.. but the 998 is a much sweeter engine and lasts longer.

How long do you want it to last?..mine is over 8 years old and still produced the most power at the dyno day and i've done 20,000k's on it this year alone and it's not my only vehicle....it made a good 15hp than the best 998...

I know i'd take it anyday over my old 998... :?

Adam,

With any 4 cylinder inline engine the #1 & #4 pistons are up when the #2 & #3 ones are down.

So, you turn the motor over until #1 is at TDC, #2 is at BDC.
Stick a slightly curved bit of wire (coat hanger) in thru the #1 & #2 plugholes (curved so it will touch the head of the piston, not the dish) and measure the difference in length. That is the stroke. 998 is 76.2mm stroke, 1098 is 83.7mm. ;)

at 25HP it is most likely a 998 and I am more than 80% sure it has something to do with ignition or carburettor, both are not that costly. You can get alot of go out of a 998. Ask Kazjim!!! 8)

Umm.. well top dead centre is exactly that.... Take the head off itll help you enormously..

Anyway, you were asking prices for an 1100 rebuild/reco - I got said operation carried out earlier this year along with new UJs, gearbox etc for a nick over 4500, that was here in Melbourne. However, if your gbox is good (and providing it is actually a K gearbox too with 4synchro!!) and ur CVs and drive train are ok then you could get out of it a little cheaper.

Bear in mind however that just getting a good block bored and ready to go ranges from 1000-2000 as a starting point, and then you go from there with everything else - pistons, crank, cam etc. Plus labour of course if you're not doing the job yourself, obviously this cost varies as does the amount of labour time required.

Hope that helps, but speak to your preferred specialist to see what you can do. Man, how do u survive with 25.7HP!?

An interesting Fact about the Mini K which i have found from a website here are the details:

Mini Deluxe Mark II K (Mini K)
Known as the Mini K, it was launched with a 1.1 litre motor.
Features included dished, padded steering wheel, changes to
the instruments and a long-life alternator.

Synchromesh was fitted to all gears. Hydrolastic suspension became
standard and the engine size increased from 998 to 1098 ccs,
power from 40 to 50 bhp (30 to 3.5 kW).
