Here's my effort, and yes that is the head of the inlet valve in the top of the piston.

Crank was fine and block cleaned up at next oversize. Due to dropped valve, due to broken roller pin in the roller rocker

This is what happens when you lose control and smash into a traffic island.
Wasn't me honest!

Here's another one I have. This is what happens if you dont fold over the locking tabs on the bolts securing the main gearbox bearing.
The bolt comes loose and rolls around in the sump till it gets wedged between the diff gear and the sump. It put a hole in the sump casing and the diff gear "machined" the bolt down. I was reversing down the driveway then Bang!. I couldn't go back any further so drove straight back into the shed to investigate.

I don't have any pictures, but a little honda v-twin engine, 670cc 4 stroke that i pulled apart yesterday had seized one big end, broken the other off the crank, broke both rods in half, cracked the block and smashed the bottom of the bore sleeve out of shape. not to mention broke off the skirt of a piston.

It's going to get a rebuild though

Here is one for you,
Don't leave rags in gearboxes! we just pulled this apart for a client!

Image
Rag on the oil feed pickup filter

Image
Rag in hand next to the oil feed pickup feed filter, you can see how the oil suction has bent the filter up.

Image
what one should look like!

Why anyone would leave a rag in a gearbox has me astounded!

So as to soak up the oil before it leaks out of the gearbox! :?
