Nearly completed my TechEdge 2Y Wideband O2 sensor kit, only one more connector to solder. Why do I leave the crappy jobs to last? :?

Next step build the MegaSquirt kit. :D

Well I finally finished cable, now I know why TechEdge offer an completed cable on their web site! :P

Did preliminary power tests... all OK. Inserted CPU and support chips no talky to netbook via USB to RS-232.:(

Found that no name USB to RS-232 converter was a piece of s#%t. Purchase new brand name converter, connected and away it went.

Moral of the story is don't buy no-name USB to serial converters of Flea Bay.

Now onwards to building the MegaSquirt. :D

Today was MegaSquirt build day. It's up and running and have been able to flash firmware.8) Tomorrow will finish it off. :)

cool :) thanks for the lead on the O2 sensor kit :)

Spent a few hours with Greig at Miniclassic. Twin carbies have a bad lean spot at low revs that is really annoying. Pulled apart carbies, centre jets, set the jet height, heavier oil in the dash pots, blah blah blah.

Job done, drove home via OPH and still not exactly right. Greig suggested linish the needles. Spent the afternoon taking 0.003" off both needles approx 10 mm from the top - now a million times better but still needs another small amount taken off. :D :D :D

Oh and he adjusted the brakes - brilliant. :D

Finished installing all parts in MegaSquirt. Powers up OK, will try to test further tomorrow, (bit difficult as I don't have an Oscilloscope at the moment).

Got sick of not having an oscilloscope, so just ordered one from fleabay (local Melbourne dealer). Now I can get on with not only this project, but all the other projects that are just lying around. :D

Replaced the primary gear oil seal on my Cooper S in preparation for the MCC outing to Bowral next weekend. Put the car all back together, bled the brakes and started the car for the 1st time in a bout 6 weeks. Have to take it for a blast tommorrow to make sure its all back together OK.

you don't need an oscilloscope to make your megajolt work - you just wanted an excuse to buy one :P got a link?

one of the places I work at have a lovely little 2 channel 12v tektronix I borrow :D

and yes, very likely to buy a o2 meter kit, looks like a good thing for the price

You've caught me out! No really I muck around with a lot of micro controllers, field programable grid arrays (FPGA's) and my latest interest is in a product from XMOS http://www.xmos.com/. I used to have access to Tektronics CRO's from work, and in later years I have begged from a friend. Thing is when you need one you don't have it to hand so I just bit the bullet so to speak and bought this one: Rigol DS1052E http://www.rigolna.com/products_ds1000d.aspx ($500)
Don't tell everyone, but two minutes later I updated/hacked it too the model above 100MHz; see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnhXfVYWYXE 8) (Saved about $350!) My brother was so impressed with the unit, he bought one also.

The O2 meter is great, and will help me tune the MegaSquirt, as it will output the wideband info to the MS, which will help in the tunning of the volumetric efficiency (VE) tables.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in my attempt to convert my car to TBI, maybe a progress report and pictures etc in a new thread:?:

I have gathered most of the things, just waiting for the injector adapter and other bits to be delivered this Monday.

So I guess you'd could call me a 52 year old geek!
